Brunei Darussalam is an independent country of 360,000 people located on the island of Borneo in South East Asia that speaks Malay, English and Chinese. The Sultan holds ultimate executive authority and is assisted by ministers and councils.

Brunei's legal system is based on Common Law with an independent judiciary and an arrangement whereby United Kingdom or Commonwealth judges are appointed to the Brunei High Court and Court of Appeal with a provision that the final appeal on civil cases is made to the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council in London.

Brunei is a rich independent country not under the direction or control of any foreign government and has a Common Law legal system and is conservatively and securely governed by a popular Monarchy. The financial strength of Brunei is based on its hydrocarbon production operated by Shell and its substantial sovereign wealth fund. Per capita GDP is substantially higher than all its Asian neighbours.

Brunei's financial strength allows the country to have no income, wealth, capital gains or inheritance taxes and no exchange controls.

Brunei has set itself to become an attractive country for the establishment of companies, funds, insurance companies and trusts by passing new advantageous legislation and has started to create a tax treaty network to further improve its attraction for international business, one such treaty is with China.

We were one of the first international trust companies to establish a subsidiary in Brunei that is licensed to act as a company formation agent for companies, trusts and funds incorporated or established on behalf of clients.

Brunei companies offer key advantages over companies established in traditional offshore jurisdictions that fall under the ultimate control of the UK such as the British Virgin Islands (BVI), Cayman Islands, Bermuda, Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man. Likewise, Brunei is regarded by many trust practitioners as having the best modern trust law and Common Law precedents for the establishment and setup of trusts in today's uncertain world.
